Nouvelles frontières de la simulation

SimHydro 2010 est une conférence organisée par la Société Hydrotechnique de France (SHF) et l’Université de Nice-Sophia Antipolis / Polytech Nice Sophia en partenariat avec l’Association Internationale d’Ingeniérie et de Recherches Hydrauliques (IAHR) et l’Association Française de Mécanique (AFM). La conférence se déroulera du 12 au 14 septembre 2012 à l’école Polytech Nice Sophia, à Sophia Antipolis.

La modélisation en mécanique des fluides, hydraulique, hydrologie, qu’elle emploie des outils numériques ou des modèles à échelle réduite, est parvenue à maturité et est devenue un outil quotidien de l’Ingénieur tant pour l’analyse technique que pour la communication. Les modèles de plus en plus sophistiqués et la capacité croissante des ordinateurs permettent d’aborder des cas toujours plus complexes. La quantification des incertitudes de données et de modèles et leur intégration dans les conclusions destinées aux décideurs font aujourd’hui l’objet d’une préoccupation légitime.

Face à ces problèmes, un certain nombre de questions restent ouvertes concernant le calage, la précision de ces modèles complexes, leur pertinence vis à vis des objectifs d’étude et la prédictivité des modèles.

SimHydro 2010 was attended by 150 international delegates who have presented and shared experiences in various fields where modeling was involved. The event was dedicated to hydraulic modeling, water management, modeling theory, numerical methods, fluid mechanics, hydroinformatics and stakeholders related issues. Exchanges have been very fruitful on crucial questions related to:

• What are the sources of uncertainty in modeling?
• What are the state-of-the-art in research and development in domain of numerical fluid mechanics?
• What are the state-of-the-art in multi-scale modeling and multi-physics modeling?
• Are stakeholders able to understand the results of models?
• Are stakeholders using hydroinformatics technology?
• Do stakeholders have the means for dialog directly or indirectly with the model developers?
• Exchanging information’s between stakeholders and developers?

Round tables during the second day have permitted in deepth exchanges between modeling specialists and stakeholders who hav eto deal with modeling results. This discussion format was higly appreciated by participants and will be reconducted in the 2012 edition.
